Environmental Conservation

Kachin State is rich in renewable and non-renewable natural resources such as minerals, gems, and timber. Weak protections leave these resources at risk of predatory exploitation and thus the responsibility for conservation is located in local communities. We work to guarantee the sustainability of the environment by strengthening systems of local resource control and management.

Community-Driven Natural Resource Management (CDNRM)

Education projects in villages teach the importance of natural resource management while emphasising how communities can adapt to meet the particular demands of their local environments. As a community-driven initiative, this programme advocates for the democratic governance of resources to ensure that the desires of the local community are prioritised.
